Dr. Lee is among many excellent anatomy and physiology professors, and he not only delivers high-quality instruction, but also goes above and beyond to connect with his students on a meaningful level. One student’s parent shared a heartfelt letter with the department recently, praising Dr. Lee’s impact and highlighting his thoughtful “Dad” comments on study materials and tests that emphasize important life choices, like avoiding drugs. This personal touch in every communication has shown his genuine care for students beyond just their grades time and time again. As any student in his course would know, Dr. Lee often reminds them that “I coach. You play. We win. My job, students, is to help you to train your brain, which is without a doubt, your greatest asset and ultimately, and this is very important to all of us, is to get you where you want to go! Students, you want to help, change and save lives? Then you have to remember that science is a long and hard road but it’s a great journey”.

The student’s parent also mentioned how much his daughter enjoyed Dr. Lee’s class, despite earning a “B,” and felt she had learned a great deal, even stating Dr. Lee was the best professor she’d had at TAMU. Dr. Lee’s approachable, caring attitude creates an environment where students feel supported both academically and personally. Outside of the classroom, Dr. Lee is affectionately known as “Metallica Man” at A&M baseball games, a nod to his passionate fandom. His love for both teaching and his Aggie community makes him a memorable presence at both academic and athletic events. If you happen to see Dr. Lee in the classroom or catch Metallica Man at an Aggie baseball game, be sure to give him a “howdy”! You never know what you might get in return.
