Three students from Dr. Ramsey’s lab presented their research at the meeting, showcasing the innovative work being conducted at Texas A&M:
  • Michael Debrah (Graduate Student): Delivered a talk titled “Disrupt and Conquer: Mechanism of phage peptide membrane disruption.”
  • Luis Carrillo (Molecular and Cell Biology Major, U4): Presented a poster titled “Antibiotic synergy with a phage-encoded peptide to reveal host interactions.”
  • Enya Hoxha (Molecular and Cell Biology Major, U2): Presented a poster titled “A Tale of Two Phages: Isolation and Characterization of Two Novel Caulobacter Phages.”
Enya Hoxha’s poster presentation earned her the prestigious Orville Wyss 1st Place Poster Award, recognizing her exceptional research and presentation skills. This award highlights the high caliber of undergraduate research being conducted in Dr. Ramsey’s lab.
“The annual Texas branch meeting represents the best microbiology work going on in the state.” says Dr. Ramsey, “Ramsey lab Aggies are our future. That bodes well for us.”
The Texas Branch of the ASM spring meeting provided an excellent platform for students to share their research, network with professionals in the field, and gain valuable feedback on their work.
